CLOTH COLOURING AND PRINTING SYLLABUS

Textile Dyeing (Clothing-Dyeing)
Unit 1 •Impurities in raw cotton, wool , silk and bast fiber •Elementary knowledge of textile chemical processing ,definition and classification of dyes and dyeing •Objects of different processes involved, e.g. singeing, desizing, scouring, bleaching and mercerization. Unit 2 • Processing sequence of grey cotton fabric up to dyeing and printing. • Application of Direct, Reactive , Vat , Sulphur and Azoic dyes on cellulosic fiber and pigment dyeing • Introductory knowledge of machinery used in pretreatments of cotton fabric
Unit 3 •Classification of acid dyes its application on wool and silk fiber. •Selection of dyes for synthetic fiber and application on Nylon, Polyester and Acrylic. . Different dyeing technique of polyester fiber.
Unit 4 Different dyeing defects of fabric in jigger , winch and jet dyeing machine. Measurement of fastness properties ,e.g. washing , rubbing ,light and perspiration
Unit 5 •Definition of finishing and classification of various types of finishes. • Important finishing treatments like Calendaring , Organdie , Sanforization ,water repellency and anticrease finishes.
Textile Printing (Clothing-Printing)
Unit 1 Preparation of the fabric before printing like singeing ,shearing and cropping, desizing ,scouring bleaching and mercerization.
Unit 2 Definition and classification of printing, Ingredients of printing paste. Classification of thickeners and its properties
Unit 3 Methods of printing such as block, stencil, screen, flat- bed and rotary printing . Photo chemical method of preparation of screen. Digital inkjet printing.
Unit 4 Definition and method of transfer printing, Types and working of transfer printing machine.
Unit 5 Styles of printing ,direct ,discharge and resist style of printing. Application of direct, azoic , reactive ,vat, indigo sol, sulphur and acid dyes in printing on textile materials.
